1977 Topps Cloth Stickers Unopened Wax Case (16 Boxes, 576 Packs)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,818.75

Complete original factory-sealed wax case of 1977 Topps Cloth Stickers baseball houses sixteen boxes with thirty-six packs per box for a total of 576 packs. With each pack containing five cloth stickers and one puzzle card, the case represents a total of 3,456 cards. The 1977 Topps Cloth Sticker set has only fifty-five cloth sticker cards, almost all stars, plus eighteen puzzle cards. With so few cards, it is not surprising that the set includes so many major stars and Hall of Famers such as cards of Brett, Jackson, Rose, Ryan, Bench, Brock, Carew, Carlton, Yastrzemski, Eckersley, McCovey, Palmer, and Fisk. There is, of course, the very real possibility that within this case are Gem Mint cards of these players. Many other major stars of the day are also included. It is also a certainty that the case contains many complete sets. It is rare to find a complete unopened case of this issue because when these came out their distribution was somewhat limited, cases were more expensive than regular Topps cards, and they were received by collectors with great fanfare. They sold for real money right away and virtually all cases were opened at the time to make sets for sale to satisfy the significant demand. The outer case carton has a 3.5 x 2.5-inch square section (which at one time had labels with the original owner's address) peeled off on two of the sides. The outer box has never been opened and the sixteen wax boxes are in their original guaranteed unsearched and unopened state. Near Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,818.75
