1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chip Mickey Mantle SGC NM/Mt+ 92 Highest-Graded Example

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $4,406.25

Graded NM/Mt+ 92 by SGC. Extraordinary ultra high-grade example of 1954 Dan-Dee Mickey Mantle, one of only two examples graded by SGC at this level, with none graded higher. This is one of the most attractive of all Mantle cards, and also one of the most difficult to find in high grade. Dan-Dee cards were issued one card per package with Dan-Dee Potato Chips. They are usually found with serious condition problems relating to this method of issue, including creases and potato chip grease stains. This is a simply stunning high-grade Dan-Dee of Mickey Mantle, the key card to the set. The card has a Mint appearance. It has apparently been downgraded by SGC due to the approximately 30/70 top to bottom centering on the front and the 15/85 L/R on reverse, as the card is otherwise as close to perfect as one could imagine. Even the tiny tabs on the card's edges, related to the separation of the Dan Dee cards from sheet form, remain perfect. Flawlessly clean both front and back, with bold colors, and an undisturbed, clean, even wax coating. This is an exceptional example of one of the keys of all 1950s food issues, and one of the most highly prized of all Mantle cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $4,406.25
