1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,993.75

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. This is a very attractive example with brilliant colors in an extremely desirable and relatively affordable grade. It is rare to find such a nice looking 1952 Topps Mantle rookie in what is technically only Good condition. This is simply a great-looking card for the grade. The deep blue background is bold and solid, with no white "snow" from wear whatsoever. A single horizontal crease is primarily responsible for lowering the grade to Good. The card has bright, crisp colors, a clean front and back, perfect registration, evenly rounded corners, and 60/40 left to right centering with a very slight diamond cut. If not for the crease, this card would probably grade Vg-Ex. This card presents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally attractive example of Mickey Mantle's most celebrated card at a small fraction of the cost of a higher-grade example. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,993.75
