1941 Play Ball Complete Set (72) Including Signed Joe DiMaggio

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,350.00

Complete set of 1941 Play Ball, overall in Good condition but including some mid-grade cards, and featuring a signed example of key card #71 Joe DiMaggio, which has been encapsulated by PSA. This classic 72-card set includes many Hall of Famers and stars of the day. In addition to Joe DiMaggio (signed ["8"] in vintage ink, technically in Fr-Gd/Gd condition but really a nice looking card), highlights also include Ted Williams (PSA GOOD 2 [MK]), and Bill Dickey (signed "8" in vintage ink, Fr-Gd). Condition is overall Good, with a handful of Vg or slightly better cards (including #6 Hubbell [PSA VG-EX 4], 8 Ott, 13 Foxx, 18 Greenberg, 64 Doerr, 72 Gomez), and a very few cards in fair condition. This set may be far from Mint, but it is a still a very pleasing and very collectable set of original 1941 Play Balls, which offers an outstanding value and a relatively affordable alternative to a higher-graded set of this popular and colorful prewar gum issue. A solid set, in overall Good condition, with a fewer lesser, many cards Gd-Vg, and a few Vg. Total 72 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
