1936 V355 World Wide Gum PSA-Graded Collection (34 cards with 16 Hall of Famers)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,581.25

Collection of thirty-four different 1936 V355 World Wide Gum cards, including sixteen Hall of Famers highlighted by Jimmy Foxx. This collection has an extraordinarily high concentration of Hall of Famers, and included are many of the highest-ever graded examples. This is a strong group. The 1936 V355 World Wide Gum set is one of the most difficult to complete sets of the 1930s, and is all the more noteworthy as it features very unusual photographs which appear in no other card issues. This is especially significant with reference to the many Hall of Famers in the set, which of course are naturally very popular with collectors. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA (unless otherwise noted). In the following list, we have noted Hall of Famers that are the highest-graded examples. Many of the non-Hall of Famer cards in the collection are also the highest-graded examples in the PSA Population Report. The complete PSA grading composite follows: One NM-MT 8: #34 Dickey (OC) (highest graded). One NM 7: #42 Gehringer (highest graded). Six EX-MT 6: #11, 16 Herman (highest graded), 61, 91 Crosetti, 95, and 133. Eighteen EX 5: #2 Waner (SGC EX+ 70), 7 Terry (highest graded), 20, 22, 29, 38, 39 Hoyt (highest graded), 46 Cronin (highest graded), 47 Foxx (only one graded higher), 48 (SGC EX 60), 58, 85 Bottomley (highest graded), 102 Ruffing (highest graded), 108 McKechnie (highest graded), 117 (MK), 124 Schalk (highest graded), 127, and 130 Harris (highest graded). Six VG-EX 4: #17, 25 Durocher (SGC VG/EX 50), 36, 74 (SGC VG/EX 50), 114, and 129 Maranville. Two VG 3: #56 Gomez and 60. This is an exceptionally substantial collection of this rare 1930s Canadian Goudey issue, both in terms of the concentration of Hall of Famers and condition. Total 34 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,581.25
