1933 R319 Goudey #223 Dizzy Dean PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $8,225.00

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only one example of this classic card has ever been graded higher. Regarded by many as the greatest pitcher of all time, Dean’s pitching career began in 1932, and was brief but spectacular. Between 1932 and 1936 he won 120 games, including thirty in 1934. He was also one of the game’s most popular and irrepressible characters, and the central figure of St. Louis’ legendary “Gas House Gang” of the 1930s. This 1933 Goudey #223 Dizzy Dean has four sharp corners and is centered slightly toward the right border (approximately 60/40 L/R), with flawless colors, and virtually perfect registration. The card is crisp and clean, both front and back (one tiny age spot on reverse is mentioned for the sake of accuracy). Dizzy Dean appears in far fewer quality baseball-card sets than many other extremely significant Hall of Famers, such as Ruth and Cobb. This is a very high grade example of one of the most popular and classic cards of the 1930s, and is perhaps the ultimate classic card of one of baseball's most legendary Hall of Famers. SMR value for the assigned grade is $5,000. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $8,225.00
