1932 R328 U.S. Caramel PSA-Graded Collection (12) Including Ruth

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $4,993.75

Original collection of twelve (eleven different and one duplicate) 1932 R328 U.S. Caramel cards highlighted by eight Hall of Famers including a very pleasing low-grade example of #32 Babe Ruth, each graded and encapsulated by PSA (except one). One card is graded EX-MT 6, five are EX 5s, two are VG-EX 4s, one is GOOD 2, two are PR-FR 1s, and one is ungraded. The 1932 multisport set produced by U.S. Caramel is considerably rarer than Goudeys and most other 1930s sets, and has long been recognized as among the most desirable issues of the era. With their distinctive red backgrounds, they are also widely regarded as one of the most striking of all baseball card issues. The PSA grades are as follows: One EX-MT 6: #28 Brandt. Five EX 5: #8 Hafey (HOF), 17 Simmons (HOF), 19 Berger, 20 Ruffing (HOF), and 29 Earnshaw. Two VG-EX 4: #21 Klein (HOF) and 24 O’Doul. One GOOD 2: #7 Cronin (HOF). Two PR-FR 1: #31 Gomez (HOF, solid Vg card downgraded by PSA due to paper loss affecting 15% of back, apparently from scrapbook removal long ago ) and 32 Ruth (HOF, Vg card downgraded by PSA due to a heavy vertical crease which runs through the center of the card). One Ungraded: #21 Kelin (HOF, Pr). This is a magnificent group of one of card collecting's most classic issues, with all cards having the "honest toning" that is characteristic of original-owner untampered-with cards from this series. This collection represents 34% of the entire set, and is an ideal foundation for the building of a beautiful, entirely graded 1932 R328 U.S. Caramel set. The SMR value of just the PSA EX-MT 6, five EX 5s, and two VG-EX 4s (not including the one GOOD 2, two PR-FR 1s with Ruth, and one ungraded) is $2,285. Total 12 cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $4,993.75
