1928 to 1941 Hall of Famer Card Collection Including Ruth (12)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,112.50

Collection of twelve high-quality cards of Hall of Famers from seven different classic sets, spanning the years 1928 to 1941, with many highlights including a very attractive 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth. The collection consists of the following: 1) 1928 George Ruth Candy Co.: #6 "Ruth Autographs Baseball" (blank back, lower quality card stock variety, we believe this example is period but, because there are so many low-quality stock reproductions, please note that PSA and SGC will not currently grade cards from this set, hint of dried rubber band mark across back noted strictly for accuracy, otherwise Ex-Mt). 2) 1933 R319 Goudey (3 cards): #103 Earle Combs (Vg-Ex), 138 Herb Pennock (Vg-Ex), and 149 Babe Ruth (PSA GOOD 2. Bright and crisp, with four square corners, a bright orange background, and virtually flawless registration. Centered very slightly towards the top border. Downgraded by PSA due to two small spots of clear glue residue in the upper left and right corners on the reverse, otherwise a solid Excellent card. This is the best PSA GD 2 Goudey Ruth in the entire universe). 3) 1934-36 R318 Batter-Up: #23 Lefty Gomez (Vg). 4) 1934-36 R327 Diamond Stars (2 cards): #27 Pie Traynor (Ex-Mt) and 54 Greenberg (25/75 L/R, otherwise Ex/Ex-Mt). 5) 1939 Play Ball: #30 Bill Dickey (Ex). 6) 1940 Play Ball (2 cards): #133 Jimmie Foxx (PSA EX 5, nice looking card!) and 173 Nap Lajoie (90/10 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt). 7) 1941 Play Ball (2 cards): #6 Carl Hubbell (Ex) and 13 Jimmie Foxx (80/20 T/B, otherwise Ex). This is a sharp-looking group of 1930s Hall of Famers, very carefully assembled by a dedicated collector one card at a time with an eye for overall visual appeal and value. Total 12 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
