Circa 1908 Baseball Postcards Including "Our Home Team" Fold-Out Tigers (9)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,645.00

Presented is a collection of nine circa 1908 baseball postcards (all measuring 5.5 x 3.5 inches), highlighted by the rare Detroit Tigers “Our Home Team” fold-out postcard. 1) 1908 Art Post Card Co., “Our Home Team” postcard. The front of the postcard features a photo of a game in progress, above which is a flap that reads “Our Home Team.” Housed under the flap, in a folded accordion format, are fourteen black-and-white photo panels (2 x 2.25 inches) picturing members of the Detroit Tigers, including manager Hughie Jennings, Ty Cobb (together with Red Downs), Sam Crawford, Bill Donovan, and Ed Summers (with Ian Thomas). This is one of five different teams in the “Our Home Team” postcard series. The Detroit Tigers example is particularly desirable as it includes Cobb. The postcard has been mailed (postmarked “1909”) and displays light corner wear. The photo panels are in Near Mint condition. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. 2-3) Two 1907-1909 H. M. Taylor Detroit Tigers Postcards: Detroit Club (not mailed, Vg-Ex, with two light diagonal corner creases) and Hughie Jennings (“Wee’Ah,” mailed, period notation on front, postal marks on front, Vg). 4-5) Two 1907 Wolverine News Co. Detroit Tigers Postcards: Jerry Downs (mailed, Vg-Ex) and “Schaefer and O’Leary working double play” (not mailed, Ex-Mt). 6) 1908 Chicago Cubs Team Postcard (mailed, Vg-Ex). 7-9) Three generic PC792 baseball postcards, circa 1908, all bearing colored and embossed fronts (one mailed, two display toning at the corners from having been mounted in an album with corner mounts; otherwise Ex overall).
