1916 M101-4 Herpolsheimer #38 Ty Cobb PSA EX-MT 6

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,231.25

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Only "1 of 1" graded by PSA with no other examples at any level graded by PSA. M101-4 #38 Ty Cobb with the rare Herpolsheimer Company back. The back reads ""Herpolsheimer Co. – Boy’s Fashion Shop – Grand Rapids – Mich." This was saved by the father of our consignor, himself now an 82-year-old gentleman. His family originally lived in Grand Rapids, MI, and his father personally got this card in 1916 directly from the Herpolsheimer Company, which was located down the block from their home. Perfectly bright and clean, both front and back, with just a touch of wear to the corners (predominately the upper right), and centered slightly to the right (approximately 55/45). The first Herpolsheimer Company of Cobb we have ever seen, this is an extremely rare and interesting card dating from the heart of Ty Cobb’s great career. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
