1914 T216 Kotton Tobacco Ty Cobb - Batting

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $2,350.00

Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. Very attractive (and harshly graded) card with bright, crisp colors, clean front and back, virtually perfect registration, evenly rounded corners (a little more rounded in the lower right). This card has a much stronger appearance than its assigned grade, but does have several medium to heavy creases. We grade this card Good condition. All Kotton Tobacco cards are extremely rare, and Ty Cobb, of course, is one of the few key cards to the set. The Kotton Tobacco series was issued only in the Louisiana area. The T216 Kotton Tobacco set includes two different poses of Ty Cobb (batting and standing). This example features Cobb in a batting pose. This same batting pose was also used for E90-1 American Caramel Company. This is a very attractive low to mid-grade example of one of Ty Cobb's rarest tobacco cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
