1913 H813 Boston Garters Tinker and Shotton (2)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,525.00

Two rare 1913 Boston Garters comprise this lot: The first is Hall of Famer Joe Tinker; the second is St. Louis Browns’ outfielder Burt Shotton (misspelled "Bert Shotten" on this card). Both cards are neatly clipped along the bottom (missing approximately 2 inches), directly below the player’s feet. Both cards display deep, rich colors, and, aside from being clipped, are otherwise without any major flaws, and are extremely bright and clean, both front and back. These cards were very recently discovered by a noncollector in Georgia. They were tucked in an old book, where they had been stored, perfectly preserved, for decades. These two cards represent an interesting, unique, and significant opportunity for a collector to acquire two examples, each with a significant flaw but still very attractive, from one of the rarest and most desirable prewar issues. Tinker measures 6 x 4 inches and Shotton is 6.25 x 3-7/8 inches. Total 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $3,525.00
