1911 T205 Gold Border Minor Leaguer PSA-Graded Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,231.25

Collection of three extremely high-grade Minor Leaguers (out of only twelve in the set) from the 1911 T205 Gold Border set, all graded and encapsulated by PSA: 1) Jack Dunn (NM 7 – One of only five graded at this extraordinary level. Bright, crisp, and clean, with brilliant colors, perfect registration, and four sharp corners with just the slightest hint of wear at the very tips of the corners. The reverse of the card is also perfectly bright and clean without even the slightest hint of tobacco staining). 2) Wyatt Lee (EX-MT 6 – This card has bold, striking colors, and the slightest hint of wear at the extreme tips of the corners. It is bright and perfectly clean, both front and back). 3) George Merritt (EX-MT 6 – Only one example has ever been graded higher by PSA. The card displays only the slightest hint of wear at the extreme tips of the corners [predominately the lower left and right], striking colors, a hint of minor toning on the reverse in the upper left corner). All three cards have outstanding eye-appeal and are exceptional high-grade examples worthy of the finest T205 set. The reverse of each has advertising for Hassan Corp Tip Cigarettes. This is a very attractive collection of three particularly desirable cards, all in high-grade, from this classic set, which is one of the most beautiful and popular of all prewar tobacco issues. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T205 Gold Borders. The SMR value for these three cards in the assigned grades is $1,770. Total 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,231.25
