1911 T3 Turkey Red Ty Cobb

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $5,287.50

Graded VG-EX 4 (MK) by PSA. Presented is an extremely attractive T3 of Ty Cobb, one of vintage-card collecting's most recognizable icons and the key card of the 1911 Turkey Red Tobacco cabinet card series. Turkey Reds are considered by many to be the most beautiful and well made tobacco set ever issued. Cobb is not just the most valuable card in the set, it also one of the best known and popular of all Ty Cobb cards. This example is bright and clean, both front and back (checklist style reverse), with bold colors, and perfect centering. There is a very light paper wrinkle on the top border and a few ink marks on the left edge and top border. The ink marks justify the "MK" qualifier designated by PSA, but are extremely minor. Technically in Very Good to Vg-Ex condition, this beautiful card displays as Excellent condition. T3s rarely survive without serious condition problems (ranging from major creases, stains, and rounded corners, to pin holes and glue stains relating to their former display, as intended). This is a stunning example of card #9 Ty Cobb from the classic Turkey Red set, a card which has always and will always be in high demand. This card represents a rare, relatively affordable alternative to a far more expensive higher grade example without compromising on any of the most important display value qualities of the card. This is a very impressive example of one of card collecting’s most classic cards, in an extremely desirable and rarely offered grade, and representing a tremendous value compared to a higher-grade example. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000 . SOLD FOR $5,287.50
