Circa 1910 T205 and T206 Tobacco Card Collection (94)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,525.00

Impressive collection of ninety-four 1910-era tobacco cards consists of twenty-three T205 "Gold Borders," sixty-eight T206 "White Borders," and three additional tobacco cards (two T201s and one T207). Included are seven Hall of Famers (among them two Mathewsons). 1) T205 Gold Borders (23 cards): Three cards are Vg-Ex, nine are Vg including Gray (no stats), four Gd-Vg, five Gd including Wagner, and two Pr. 2) T206 White Borders (68 cards): Ten cards are Vg-Ex, seventeen Vg including Jennings (portrait), twenty-four Gd including Jennings (portrait), Mathewson (dark cap), Mathewson (white cap), McGinnity, Thebo (southern leaguer), and Wallace (portrait, Hindu back), fourteen Fr including Thebo (southern leaguer), and three Pr including Willis (portrait). 3) T201 Mecca Double Folders (2 cards): Coombs/Thomas (Gd) and Leifield/Simon (Gd); T207 Recruit (1 card): Callahan (Vg). Tobacco cards in mid-grade condition represent perhaps the best value among all vintage baseball cards. They don't cost a fortune but capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting as well (some would argue better!) than more expensive higher-grade examples. This is a very substantial collection of tobacco cards from the era's most popular and classic sets. Total 94 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,525.00
