1888 N172 Old Judge Harry Wright - The Finest in Existence

Starting Bid - $5,000.00, Sold For - $19,720.00

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. This extraordinary card is the highest graded N172 Old Judge example in the world of key Hall of Famer Harry Wright. This is the only N172 Harry Wright graded at this level, with none graded higher. All Harry Wright Old Judges are extremely rare and desirable. This card, which has a copyright date of 1888, is a simply magnificent example of this key Old Judge Hall of Famer rarity. There are three different poses of baseball Harry Wright in the Old Judge set featuring him as manager of the Philadelphia Nationals. All are portraits and each is extremely rare. This is an outstanding ultra high-grade example, perfectly clean both front and back, with sharp corners. The photograph is a little light, but this is as made and is a characteristic of N172 Harry Wright cards. Anyone who has ever sent N172 Old Judges to PSA knows what a miracle it is to have even a common player in N172 be awarded with such a high grade. A NM-MT PSA 8 of Harry Wright qualifies as a card-collecting miracle. This is an extraordinary example of one of Harry Wright's few baseball cards, the finest in existence of one of the most important cards in the Old Judge series, and a card which would be a highlight in the most advanced Old Judge, nineteenth-century, or Hall of Famer card collection. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$20,000. SOLD FOR $19,720.00
