1888 N172 Old Judge High-Grade Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,060.00

Collection of three incredibly ultra high-grade N172 graded by PSA and SGC (two PSA 8 and one SGC 88): Kid Baldwin/Cincinnati (PSA NM-MT 8), Pete Conway/Pittsburgh (SGC NM/MT 8), and Somers/St. Louis Browns (PSA NM-MT 8). Very interesting note regarding Somers which makes this a particularly unusual and mysterious card in the Old Judge set: Somers never actually played for St. Louis. All three cards are dated 1888. Each card has a superb image and is very well centered, with four sharp corners, a crisp, strong image, with flawless clarity and contrast, and a perfectly clean reverse. Anyone who has ever sent N172 Old Judges in for grading knows what a miracle it is to have an N172 actually grade Near Mint to Mint by SGC or PSA. These three cards are beauties. This is an impressive trio of top quality ultra high-grade Old Judges, some of the best examples we seen, in virtually perfect condition. Total 3 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,060.00
