1977 Thurman Munson Signed Photo

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $696.00

This origina black-and-white action photograph of Thurman Munson at bat in Yankee Stadium has been personally inscribed by the former Yankees captain, "To Bones - One good bat guy - Thurman Munson." Munson's blue ink signature grades "8/9"; however, a portion of his last name contrasts somewhat poorly against the dark background of the infield grass. "Bones" was the nickname of John Caldararo, the Yankees batboy in 1977, the year from which this photograph and signature date. This photo, which originates from Caldararo's personal collection, is a unique image of Munson and one that is not commercially available. The photograph (10 x 8 inches) displays areas which appear to be age toning but which more likely are actually imperfections to the print from when it was made. This does not affect the inscription or signature; the photograph is otherwise in Excellent condition. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and Steve Grad, Mike Gutierrez & Zach Rullo/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $696.00
