1887-1889 N172 Old Judge High-Grade Collection (7)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,220.00

Collection of seven high-grade N172 Old Judge series cards, each graded by GAI or SGC: 1) Bob Clark, Brooklyn (SGC NM 84). Scarce 1889 copyright. Card is well centered, with a slight tilt to the picture, four sharp corners, a clear image with a slight pink hue, and a perfectly clean reverse. 2) Tom Daly, Cleveland (GAI EX-MT 6), 1887. Interesting note: Daly never played for Cleveland. On this card he is pictured in Chicago uniform, and identified with Cleveland. Flawless image with outstanding contrast.3) Shorty Radford, Cleveland (GAI NM+ 7.5), 1888. Gorgeous card with four sharp, square corners, a crystal clear image , and a flawless reverse. 4) Jumbo Schoenreck, Indianapolis (SGC NM 84), 1888. The card displays four sharp corners, with a hint of foxing along the top border, and the image is acceptable but ever so slightly out of focus. 5) Mike Slattery, New York NL (SGC NM+ 86), 1888. Four sharp corners, spectacular card with flawless image, and perfectly clean reverse. 6) Pop Smith, Pittsburgh (SGC NM 84), 1888. Crisp, clean card with four sharp corners. 7) Sam Smith, Des Moines (SGC NM 84), 1888. Four sharp corners, clear image with slight pink hue, and very light toning on reverse. Very sharp-looking group of high-quality Old Judges. Total 7 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $5,220.00
