1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $5,220.00

Extraordinary high-grade example of 1953 Stahl-Meyer Mickey Mantle. This is one of the rarest and most attractive of all Mantle cards, and also one of the most difficult to find in high grade. Stahl-Meyers were regionally issued in the New York area, one card per package, with Stahl-Meyer Franks. The set features a selection of stars from all three New York teams. They are usually found with serious condition problems relating to their method of issue, including creases and hot dog stains. This is an exceptionally high-grade Stahl-Meyer of Mickey Mantle, the key card to the set. The card has a Near Mint appearance. Very close examination reveals a very light, barely detectable hint of a hairline crease in the lower right, and the centering is 30/70 left to right, otherwise the card is in Ex-Mt to Near Mint condition, perfectly clean both front and back, with bold colors, and an undisturbed, clean, even wax coating. This is an exceptional example of one of the keys of all 1950s regional issues, and one of the most highly prized of all Mantle cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $5,220.00
