1951 Bowman #305 Willie Mays Rookie

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Extremely desirable rookie card of legendary Hall of Famer Willie Mays, one of the most important of all 1950s bubble-gum cards. In addition to being one of the two key cards of the 1951 Bowman set, Mays is part of the scarce high-number series of the set (#253-324). Crisp and clean, with flawless bright colors, four square corners, and snow white borders. The reverse is flawless with the exception of the hint of an extremely minor gum stain (virtually undetectable). The 25/75 left to right centering is almost certainly solely responsible for keeping this gem from receiving a higher grade from PSA. This is a sharp-looking example of Mays' rookie card, in an extremely desirable grade which offers a particularly outstanding value compared to many technically higher-graded examples, which though more expensive are not as crisp and attractive as this EX-MT example. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
