1933 DeLong Gum Near-Complete Set PSA Graded (20 of 24)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,350.00

Near-complete set of 1933 DeLong Gum comprised of twenty different of twenty-four cards in the set (missing only #7 Gehrig, 10 O'Doul, 21 Foxx, and 24 Goslin for completion), all graded by PSA (unless otherwise noted). DeLongs have always held a special place in the hearts of collectors. The small size of the set, their relative rarity compared to most others card sets of the era, their unique dimensions and design, and their status as a "one-year issue" all combine to give DeLongs a mystique among serious collectors. This near-set (20 of 24 cards) is comprised of the following: #1 McManus (PSA VG 3), 2 Simmons (GAI VG-EX 4), 3 (PSA VG 3), 4 Terry (PSA GOOD 2), 5 Gehringer (PSA GOOD 2), 6 Cochrane (PSA PR-FR 1), 8 Cuyler (GAI Good 2), 9 (PSA GOOD 2), 11 Lindstrom (PSA PR-FR 1), 12 Traynor (PSA VG-EX 4), 13 Maranville (PSA VG 3), 14 Gomez (SGC VG 40), 15 (PSA PR-FR 1), 16 (PSA VG-EX 4), 17 Martin (PSA EX 5), 18 (PSA VG 3), 19 Hafey (PSA VG 3), 20 (PSA VG-EX 4), 22 Klein (PSA VG 3), and 23 Grove (PSA VG 3). As is usually the case, vintage cards which are graded in the Good to Very Good by PSA, GAI, and SGC are usually extremely attractive cards. That is certainly the case with this near-set, which presents a rarely offered relatively affordable alternative to a higher-grade set. This is a very clean and attractive group, including twelve Hall of Famers, and missing only four cards for the completion of a very pleasing mixed-grade set of these 1930s classics. Total 20 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
