Two Ultra High-Grade 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folders PSA 8

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,800.00

Two 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folders, each graded NM-MT 8 by PSA: "Lobert Almost Caught" Kling/Steinfeldt (only two graded at this level with none graded higher) and "Stone About to Swing" Schulte/Sheckard (only one graded at this level, with just one example graded higher). While collectors are well aware that PSA is particularly hard to Triple Folders, exactly how hard can only be fully appreciated by consulting PSA's population report. As of this writing, only 114 T202 Triple Folders have ever been graded PSA 8 NM-MT by PSA, and only three T202s have been graded MINT 9. If normal wear and tear isn't enough to worry about on cards dating from 1912, because of their unusual design, there is literally a laundry list of additional potential problems for T202s that almost always cause these cards to be graded harshly: centering, miscuts, print specs, "spider" creases, poor registration, a vertical "shadow" line center crease, etc. Each of these T202s is practically a miracle to be offered in this condition. We personally picked these two cards out for grading from a collection of approximately 100 T202s appearing elsewhere in this auction because they jumped out as extraordinarily high-grade examples. Both are crisp, extremely clean both front and back, with flawless color, sharp corners, and no creases. It would be virtually impossible to find a finer example of either card. The SMR value for the assigned grades is $1,800. Total 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $5,800.00
