1911 Zeenut Buck Weaver

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $4,350.00

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Buck Weaver, a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox, has reached cult status in the collecting world. His cards routinely sell for more than Hall of Famers from the same sets in which he appears. Unfortunately for collectors, Weaver appears in few sets. This is an outstanding example of what is perhaps Buck Weaver's most majestic card: his 1911 Zeenut card which pictures him with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League, before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. This is an extremely attractive card of Weaver in full uniform posing with his hands on his hips. Due to its method of issue (one card per box with candy) and large size (2.25 x 4 inches), this card is usually found in far lower grade. The card is well centered, relatively clean front and back, has even corner wear, and some light surface wear. The PSA grade might be very slightly generous on this one (we grade this card Very Good+) but this is a very strong and attractive example of the key card from this scarce minor league issue. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $4,350.00
