1909-1911 T206 White Borders Collection (50)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,972.00

Collection of fifty different T206 White Borders ranging in grade from Fr to Gd-Vg (mostly Fr-Gd), including several interesting color variations. The background on the Beckley card is orange (it is usually red). The background on the Griffith portrait is a lighter-than-usual orange. Most striking, the Kelley (Toronto) card has a gray background, as opposed to a bright red background, as is usually the case. The lot includes nine Hall of Famers (Beckley, Bender/no trees, Bresnahan/bat, Chance/bat, Griffith/port., Keeler/port., Kelley, Waddell/port., and Wallace) and a Black Sox member (Gandil). This is a neat group of cards from "the olden days," a little rough but still very collectable, and ideal for the collector who does not want to spend a fortune, buts wants real, original circa 1910 tobacco cards which capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting. We enjoy offering low-grade groups like these because they make the collecting of the most classic baseball card issues possible and more accessible to a wider audience. Backs almost all Sweet Caporal and Piedmont, but also included is a Carolina Brights. Total 50 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,972.00
