This is a very clean, exceptionally attractive, and carefully assembled collection, representing a strong foundation for the complete assembly of a magnificent set. 15% are Ex or better, 60% are Vg-Ex, and 25% are Vg (with a few slightly lesser). A very few cards are included with heavy creases or back damage. Ten different tobacco advertising brands are represented (including Hindu, American Beauty, Cycle, Sovereign, El Principe De Gales, Tolstoi, etc.). Eighteen of the cards (sixteen HOFers and two commons, which are both VG-EX 4) have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. This is a set with tremendous eye-appeal, and which appears at a glance considerably stronger than suggested by the very respectable and accurate condition composite and individual grades listed above. T206s in PSA 7 NM, PSA 8 NR-MT (or higher grades) have risen to astounding levels which are unaffordable for most collectors. Impressive cards ranging in grade from Vg to Excellent condition, of which this near-set is primarily comprised, represent one of the most outstanding values of all vintage cards. This is a beautiful near-complete set of T206 White Borders, the most popular and classic set of the era, in an extremely desirable overall grade. Total 476 cards. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$20,000. SOLD FOR $34,800.00
