Lot # 72 (of 1525)   < Previous Lot | Next Lot >

Circa 1910 Tobacco Pouch and Box Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $348.00

Trio of rare baseball-themed tobacco packages: 1) Unopened pouch of "'Hot Ball' Chewing & Smoking Tobacco." Tax stamp is dated "Series of 1902." This is an extremely fragile pack made of somewhat brittle paper; we can't imagine that many of these could have possibly survived. This is the only example we have ever seen. Striking baseball design, ideal for display. Some minor tearing in side of lower left corner (not visible from front and not affecting display value), but intact, unopened, and otherwise in Excellent condition. 2) Circa 1910 "Catcher Tobacco" box once held a 1.25 lb. brick of Brown & Williamson tobacco. "Series of 1910" tax stamp date. Accompanied by original "Catcher" brand tobacco tin tag with matching "Catcher" logo (both Vg). 3) Circa 1920s "Big Mitt" tobacco. Unopened pack with original sealed wax paper wrap. Ex-Mt. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$400. SOLD FOR $348.00
