1960 Bazooka Uncut Progressive Proof Sheets (3)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,088.00

Three 1960 Bazooka color process sheets, each featuring a complete 36-card set presented in twelve three-card panels. These rare color progression proof sheets were intended for use by the printer to help check and correct colors prior to printing production quantities. The three sheets in this lot display, respectively, 1) yellow, red, and blue printing; 2) yellow and red printing; and 3) yellow, red, and black printing. Each of these color combinations represents a step toward the final process with all colors including black. 1960 was the second year of Bazooka baseball cards, and the first set to be issued in the three-card panel format. Hall of Famers in this set include Mantle, Clemente, Aaron, Banks, Mays, Berra, Kaline, Spahn, Killebrew, Ashburn, Roberts, F. Robinson, and Aparicio. Other than some staple holes in the margin area at the top (where the complete run of all color process sheets including the final were originally stapled together for review by the printer) the sheets are in outstanding Ex-Mt condition. The cards on the sheets are in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. These sheets are very likely unique. Dimensions: Each 24 x 20.5 inches. Total 3 sheets. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,088.00
