1949 Bowman #224 Satchel Paige PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,160.00

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Four square corners and deep colors highlight this high-demand card of Leroy "Satchel" Paige. Centered slightly high top to bottom (in part due to a slight picture tilt) with near perfect focus and a flawless reverse. Rare high-number card which is on most collector's 1949 Bowman want lists. It is interesting to note that the back of the card makes mention of his years of "traveling around the Negro Leagues" before being signed by the Indians, and that "his exact age is unknown." One of the key classics of all postwar baseball card issues, this is a very attractive high-grade example of one of only several cards issued of Satchell Paige dating from his playing days. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,160.00
