1933 DeLong Gum Near-Complete Set (22 of 24)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,900.00

Near-complete set of 1933 DeLong Gum; twenty-two different of twenty-four cards in the set, missing only #15 Stephenson and #23 Grove for completion, all graded by GAI, PSA or SGC (except #11 Lindstrom). DeLongs have always held a special place in the hearts of collectors. The small size of the set, their relative rarity compared to most others card sets of the era, their unique dimensions and design, and their status as a "one-year issue" all combine to give DeLongs a mystique among serious collectors. This collection of 22 cards, representing 92% of the set, is comprised of the following: #1 McManus (GAI Good 2), 2 Simmons (GAI VG 3), 3 (GAI Good 2), 4 Terry (PSA VG 3), 5 Gehringer (GAI Good 2), 6 Cochrane (GAI VG+ 3.5), 7 Gehrig (PSA PR-FR 1), 8 Cuyler (GAI Good 2), 9 (GAI VG-EX 4), 10 O'Doul (GAI VG 3), 11 Lindstrom (ungraded, Gd condition), 12 Traynor (GAI Good 2), 13 Maranville (GAI Fair 1.5), 14 Gomez (GAI Good 2), 16 (GAI VG+ 3.5), 17 Martin (SGC Poor 10, front looks Vg-Ex but the card has been downgraded due to back damage), 18 (GAI VG-EX 4), 19 Hafey (GAI Good 2), 20 (PSA EX 5), 21 Foxx (GAI Good 2), 22 Klein (GAI G-VG 2.5), and 24 Goslin (GAI VG 3). As is usually the case, vintage cards which are graded in the Good to Very Good by PSA, GAI, and SGC are usually extremely attractive cards. That is certainly the case with this near set, which presents a rarely offered relatively affordable alternative to a higher-grade set. A very clean and attractive group, including fourteen Hall of Famers, and missing only two cards for the completion of a very pleasing mixed grade set of these 1930s classics. Total 22 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,900.00
