1933 Goudey #193 Lynford Lary PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,204.00

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One of eight examples graded at this level with only one graded higher. Lyn Lary, a member of the New York Yankees from 1929 to 1934, is most famous for costing Lou Gehrig the home run title in 1931. Incorrectly thinking a ball Gehrig hit out of the park had been caught, Lary left the base path to walk off the field and was passed by Gehrig, who was declared out. Gehrig finished the season with 46 home runs, tied with Ruth. This high-grade 1933 Goudey example displays bold colors and is fairly well-centered, with ever so slight off-registration, perfectly clean front and back, and with four very square corners. We have found that the auction selling prices of cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as 1933 Goudey. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,204.00
