1933 Goudey #3 Hugh Critz PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $9,860.00

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One of only six examples graded at this level by PSA with none graded higher. Infielder Hugh Critz is captured in an attractive swinging pose set against a deep red background on this 1933 Goudey low-number card. Critz is one of the most difficult cards in the set to find in high grade. This is a spectacular world-class example of a significant condition rarity. It is extremely well centered with four square corners. Crisp and clean, both front and back. The image on this card really "jumps" out. 1933 Goudey low numbers are particularly rare in such high grade. In addition to gravitating toward the top of stacks of cards back in the 1930s, thus tending to receive extra wear, low number series cards are printed on a different stock which is slightly more prone to wear than higher number cards. These two factors combine to make 1933 Goudey low numbers extremely challenging to find in high grade, especially a card with a number as low as #3 Critz. This may be the finest example in the world of this card. Solid Nr/Mt-Mt condition. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000. SOLD FOR $9,860.00
