1915 E145 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson PSA EX-MT 6

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $37,700.00

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Outstanding example of the most sought-after of all Joe Jackson cards. We've looked long and hard at this gem, and can only say that this is one of the strongest PSA EX-MT 6 Cracker Jack cards we could possibly hope to see. The red color of the background is particularly deep and bold. The card is absolutely pristine, crisp, and perfectly fresh. This card was obviously issued packed in a box of Cracker Jacks, as opposed to originating from a factory set by mail. There are two very light caramel stains, one along the bottom border and an additional small hint of a stain at the bottom of the reverse, both of which which are very minor and do not affect the strong visual appeal of the card. The printing registration is perfect. There is an ever so slight diamond cut to the card, as made, and as is always the case with this card, but far less than is usually found on Jackson Cracker Jacks. Of extra special note is the centering and size of the card. Because of Jackson's placement on the sheet in the production process, almost all Cracker Jack Joe Jacksons are significantly off center left to right, and most are slightly small in size. In fact, in the old days, it was common for PSA to reject 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jacksons for grading due to "minimum size requirements." This example is, very simply, unusually large for this card, side to side, and very nicely centered 60/40 left to right, which is also a very unusual characteristic to find on this classic card. Looking only at the centering of the reverse of the card, careful measurement of the space on each side of the reverse text to the edge suggests that the card is larger than usual on the left side, coinciding with the larger left border on front. While we would have to have many other examples with which to compare, this card makes us wonder whether the 1915 Cracker Jack cards which were packaged in boxes were printed separately and/or cut separately from those printed for factory sets. The borders are bright and clean, as is the entire front and reverse. All four corners are strong and square, with only the slightest hint of wear on the tips visible under magnification. The card is in solid Excellent to Mint condition, and presents as a Near Mint specimen. This is an extraordinary example of one of card collecting's most classic and popular cards in an extremely desirable grade. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $37,700.00
