T205 Collection (38) and 1933 Goudey Ruth Altered

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $9,280.00

Collection of 39 different altered cards. Includes: 1) 38 1911 T205 Gold Borders: Bailey, Barger (full "B" on cap), Barry, Bender (HOF), Bescher, Chase (left ear only), Clarke (HOF), two E. Collins (mouth closed and open), Criger, Donohue, Duffy (HOF), Evans, Ford (black cap), Fromme, Gardner, Grant, Groom, Hartsel, W. Johnson (HOF), Joss (HOF), Krause, LaPorte, Latham (A. Latham on back), B. Lord, Merritt, Meyers, Miller, Mullin, O'Leary, Olmstead, Phelps, Quinn, Scheli, Schulte, Tannehill, Wallace (HOF - no cap, two lines of stats variation), Wheat (HOF). Cards in this collection have a strong appearance ranging from Ex to Nr/Mt, but each card was rejected by PSA for evidence of trimming or touches of recoloring. This is a very attractive group of cards, and includes many key Hall of Famers and rare cards from the set. This collection represents over 18 percent of the set. 2) 1933 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth. Nr/Mt or better appearance, rejected by PSA due to evidence of trimming. While the Goudey Ruth and T205s in this lot will never be graded by PSA, GAI, or SGC, they do represent an extraordinary value for the collector who wants beautiful original ungraded examples of these classics, at a far more affordable level than graded examples with a similar appearance. Also included with the lot are the following two cards: 1948 Bowman #6 Yogi Berra (well centered, with slightly wavy borders from long ago being hand cut from a sheet, otherwise in Ex condition; and 1951 Topps Teams Philadelphia Athletics (1950) in Excellent condition (no problems). Total 41 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $9,280.00
