1911 T205 Gold Borders PSA Graded Partial Set (137 Diff)

Starting Bid - $5,000.00, Sold For - $15,080.00

Extremely impressive partial set of 137 T205 Gold Borders, all graded and encapsulated by PSA. All are different, and included are many Hall of Famers, rare cards, and minor leaguers. This collection has been carefully assembled, with an eye for visual appeal and value, by a very dedicated collector over a period of many years. It represents the foundation for an exceptional T205 set. The PSA grades are as follows: Six EX-MT 6: Bergen, Blackburne, Bresnahan (HOF, closed mouth), Corridon, T. Jones (PSA mislabeled as D. Jones), and McGraw (HOF). Twenty-nine EX 5: Archer, Bell, Birmingham, Brown (HOF), Dougherty (white sock emblem), Goode, Graham (Rustlers), Huggins (HOF), Kroh, Latham (W.A. Latham on back), Latham (A. Latham on back), Lennox, Lush, Merkle, Merritt, Mitchell (MC), Murphy, Murray, Overall, Pelty, Pfiester, Phillippe, Rowan, Sheckard, Speaker (HOF), Stahl (MK), Tinker (HOF), Willett, and Wiltse (both ears). Seventy VG-EX 4: Ames, Austin, Barger (partial B), Batch, Beck, Bransfield, Byrne, Carrigan (MK), Chance (HOF), Chase (both ears, frame extends), Crandall ("t" not crossed), Devlin, Devore, Dooin, Doolan, Dougherty (red sock emblem), Egan, Elberfeld, Engle, Ewing, Fisher, Fletcher, Ford (rare white cap variety), Foxen, Gaspar, Gibson, Graham (Cubs), Gray, Harmon (rare left ear only variety), Hauser, Hemphill, Herzog, Hummel, Jacklitsch, D. Jones, Karger, Lang (Lange), Leach, Lobert, Lord, Maddox, Marquard (HOF), McAllister, McConnell, McIntire, McLean (MK), Moran, Moriarty, Needham, Oldring, Paskert, Payne, Scanlan, Schaefer, Schmidt, Scott, Shean (Cubs), Simmons, Smith, Snodgrass, Stanage, Steinfeldt, Stone, Sweeney, Thomas, Titus, Turner, Wagner, Wilhelm, and Wiltse (right ear only). Twenty-one VG 3: Adkins, Ball, J. Collins (HOF), Dahlen, Daubert, Evers (HOF), Ferguson, Flynn, Frick, Jennings (HOF), Killian, Kling, Knight, Lee, Magee, Mattern, Milan, Shean (Rustlers), Street, Vaughn, and Walsh (HOF). Eleven GOOD 2: Cicotte ("Black Sox"), Dunn, Leifield, Livingston, McBride, McElveen, Nee, Phelan, Summers, Wolter, and Young (HOF). The T205 set is one of card collecting's most condition-sensitive issues. Like most PSA-graded T205s, the cards in this collection display far better than suggested by their technically accurate grades. This is a magnificent collection of one of card collecting's most classic issues. This collection represents a full 65% of the entire set, and is an ideal foundation for the building of a beautiful entirely PSA-graded T205 set, of which very few have ever been assembled. The PSA set registry actually lists only two completely-graded T205 sets. (Please note: an additional twenty-seven GAI-graded T205s which were a part of this same collection are offered separately as the following lot. Together the two lots represent a total of 164 different cards.) The SMR value for just the PSA EX-MT 6s, EX 5s, and VG-EX 4s of this lot (not including the PSA VG 3s or GOOD 2s) is $13,900. Total 137 cards. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$15,000. SOLD FOR $15,080.00
