1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinet Jack Glasscock

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,740.00

1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinet card of Jack Glasscock of Indianapolis (throwing pose). Glasscock was a major nineteenth-century star and universally regarded as one of the premier shortstops in the Major Leagues throughout his seventeen-year career (1879-1895). He has long been widely regarded as a serious candidate for consideration for election to the Hall of Fame. The photograph is in Near Mint condition, with excellent contrast. The white writing providing Glasscock's name, position, and team identification in the foreground of the card is legible but does not contrast particularly well against the very light foreground, as made. The mount has a little corner wear. A few small notations on the reverse in the upper right corner relate to the value of the card many years ago ("$100 to $150, 1979"). A very attractive N173 Old Judge cabinet sample of one of the era's most highly regarded stars. In overall Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,740.00
