1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips Complete Set (28)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,840.00

Issued one card per bag of potato chips, these popular cards were produced with waxed surfaces intended to protect them from grease staining. Since these cards were issued primarily in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland areas, not surprisingly the players featured are mostly Pirates and Indians, although the three New York area teams are also represented. Condition composite: 7 cards grade Ex or better, 14 cards range from Vg to Vg-Ex, 7 cards lower grades (overall Good). Keys: Mantle (Vg-Ex due to slight surface crease, otherwise Ex), P. Smith (Gd, heavily stained), W. Cooper (Gd), Snider (Gd, extreme diamond cut), Hodges (Vg), and Wynn (Vg). Attractive mixed-grade set with a particularly strong example of key card Mickey Mantle. Total 28 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,840.00
