"Babe Ruth Day" Photograph with Ruth Cut

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $4,312.50

Stunning limited edition (#106/300) large format photographic display (23 x 19.5 inches) features Babe Ruth at home plate, making his final appearance in uniform on Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium on June 13, 1948. This was also the 25th anniversary of the stadium and the day the Babe's number was retired. The dramatic image is flawlessly signed by Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, "Voice of the Yankees" Mel Allen, and Phil Rizzuto (each "10") at the top in black ink. All of these Yankee greats were on hand for this momentous occasion. Mel Allen was the Master of Ceremonies of the day, and is standing at home plate in the foreground of the photograph with Ruth. Below the signed photograph, a window in the matting displays a gorgeous and very large Babe Ruth cut signature ("9"), beautifully signed "Sincerely Babe Ruth" in black fountain pen. Together, the signed photograph and Ruth signature create an extremely impressive display and tribute to the greatest Yankee legend of all. The entire display is professionally framed and matted to dimensions of 31.75 x 29.75 inches and is in Mint condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $4,312.50
