1959 LA Dodgers World Champions Team-Signed Baseball

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $3,737.50

Official National League (Giles) ball is signed by 27 members of the 1959 World Champion LA Dodgers. Signatures include: Walt Alston (sweet spot), Dressen (sweet spot), Snider, Hodges, Reese, Gilliam, Drysdale, Koufax, Craig, Podres, Furillo, Neal, Roseboro, Demeter, Zimmer, Sherry, Labine, Fairly, Pignatano, Churn, Essegian, Moon, Larker, Klippstein, McDevitt, Repulski, etc. In their final season of the decade, the Dodgers, a team in transition, finished in a first-place tie with the Milwaukee Braves. Two days later, the Dodgers had the NL pennant as they swept the Braves in a best-of-three playoff. The Dodgers then faced the Chicago White Sox in their fifth World Series of the 50s. Using timely hitting and outstanding pitching, the Dodgers brought their first championship to Los Angeles and beat the Sox in six games. This team ball is extremely desirable, both for its rarity and for its significance as the first championship team for the Dodgers in their new home of Los Angeles. The identification "'59 Dodgers" is printed in blue ink above the Spalding label on a side panel. The signatures grade an impressive "8" overall. The ball is in spectacular Near Mint condition. This is an exceptional example of one of the rarest Championship team-signed balls of the era. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $3,737.50
