1905 Philadelphia Athletics Team Yearbook

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,035.00

The 1905 Philadelphia Athletics yearbook, formally entitled "The Athletics, Sketches By Charles Dryden, American League Champions, 1905" is one of the earliest of all team yearbooks. Its 46 pages feature a biography and full-page portrait artwork of each A's player including Connie Mack, Eddie Plank, Rube Waddell, Chief Bender, etc. There are very few yearbooks issued which predate the 1940s. The few that were issued were special one-time publications, as opposed to the annual team yearbooks of the modern era. This is one of the rarest and earliest of all yearbooks, and was actually issued by a newspaper called The North American to honor the Athletics and to raise money for the players. The back cover reads "This souvenir is presented to the Athletics by the North American, the entire proceeds from its sale to be divided among the players." 6 x 9 inches. The yearbook cover shows some general wear from age and has a small water stain, the interior pages are very clean, the centerfold page is detached from the staples but present, overall Vg-Ex condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,035.00
