Early 1940s Josh Gibson Game Photograph

Circa 1942 original Homestead Grays game "in action" photograph (8 ½" x 6 ½") features Josh Gibson rounding third. The photo was taken at Griffith Stadium taken by Jones Photo Service Washington D.C. (photographer's ink stamp on reverse.) The Grays began playing some of their home games in Griffith Stadium in 1940. From the estate of Buck Leonard. Buck Leonard signed the photograph in the foreground ("10") as a way of honoring the memory of his longtime teammate. Jones Photo Service ink stamp on reverse. Corner tack holes, small border tears, "Griffith Stadium" is lightly written in foreground. An extremely rare and striking image of the legendary Josh Gibson in action.
