1967 Fedtro Mickey Mantle Metal Sign

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,610.00

During the 1960s, Mickey Mantle was endorsing products of all kinds, including foods, beverages, and even electronics. Dating from 1967, Mantle is pictured on this black-and-white metal sign promoting "Fedtro" electronic products. We can't imagine many of these elaborate and expensively-made signs were produced, let alone survived. Designed to be displayed in electronics stores, electronics producer Fedtro chose Mantle to promote their line of "transistorized wireless intercoms." Apparently Mantle's popularity wasn't quite enough to ensure the success of this revolutionary product, as today we rarely (make that never) see wireless electronic megaphones, or Fedtro products of any kind. The metal sign measures 13.5 x 32 inches and is in Ex-Mt condition. A very unusual, substantial, and extremely rare Mantle advertising display sign for a product that, well, just didn't take off. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,610.00
