1947 Jackie Robinson Bond Bread Advertising Poster

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $1,495.00

Extremely rare 1947 advertising poster featuring Jackie Robinson and his family endorsing Homogenized Bond Bread. Bond also issued a set of baseball cards (catalogued D302), each featuring a different pose of Robinson, in 1947. The poster was designed to be displayed in store windows, hopefully to encourage youngsters, and their parents, to buy the very same bread as the Robinson family. While we were not present to see the posters on display in 1947, it is our understanding that Bond provided these posters exclusively to stores in black neighborhoods. These posters were designed with adhesive in the four corners to allow them to be affixed to store windows. Measures 10.75 x 14.75 inches. Beautifully framed and matted, to dimensions of 17.75 x 21.5 inches. This is a virtually perfect example of this very historically significant baseball advertising poster. Bright, crisp, and clean, with no creases, and only a single tiny corner tear in the upper right, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy. Excellent condition. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $1,495.00
