1934 R304 Al Demaree Die-Cut Card Collection (2)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $690.00

Two high-grade examples, #20 Red Kress and #130 Ernie Orsatti, from the R304 Demaree die-cuts series issued by Chicago's Dietz Gum Company in 1934. Demaree die-cuts are among the rarest of all 1930s gum issues. No full set is known to exist, and due to their considerable rarity, even the checklisting of the set is still a work in progress some 70 years after its issue. R304's unusual design combines black-and-white photographic player portraits with cartoon body art drawn by former Major League pitcher Al Demaree. Not only are these cards extremely rare, but their fragile die-cut design makes finding them in high grade particularly challenging. These two gems are both complete with their fragile tabs intact. Both are clean and crisp, grading Nr/Mt. A very sharp pair of one of the hobby's scarcest 1930s gum issues. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $690.00
